Who is TCorp?

NSW Treasury Corporation (TCorp) is the central borrowing agency for the State of New South Wales. NSW Waratah Bonds are guaranteed by the NSW Government.

Funds that TCorp raises through the issue of NSW Waratah Bonds and other debt programmes are on-lent to the New South Wales Government to fund public sector activities.

What is the process for investing in NSW Waratah Bonds?

Applications for a NSW Waratah Bond are processed in two stages:

Firstly, provide the Registry with a completed NSW Waratah Bonds Application Form with your identification documents and a copy of your invitation letter from the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
The Registry will process your application and may contact you if any additional documentation is required.

Secondly, if the Registry determines that your application meets the requirements, you will be invited (normally by way of email correspondence) to transfer the Investment Amount to the NSW Treasury Corporation Registry bank account. The Registry will supply you with the necessary banking details. You will also be asked to supply evidence of the source of the investment funds referenced in the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs invitation letter.

If your documents are written in a language other than English, an English translation by an accredited translator must be provided.

When will my Waratah Bonds commence?

Your NSW Waratah Bond will commence on the date set out in the Certificate of Inscription (Issue Date) issued by the Registry. The Certificate of Inscription may be issued several days after receipt of your Investment Amount while the Registry processes the final stage of your application. Interest accrues from the Issue Date and will be paid on the first interest payment date. Interest does not accrue from the date the Investment Amount is received to the Issue Date.

When will I receive my interest payments?

Interest is paid semi-annually. To achieve alignment with the final maturity date of your investment your first interest period may be longer than six months. Your final interest payment date will be on the maturity date of the bond which is the date set out in the Certificate of Inscription issued by the Registry.

How will my interest be paid?

Interest will be deposited into your nominated Australian dollar account with a financial institution in Australia. At maturity, principal and the final interest payment will be deposited into this nominated account.

Can I redeem my NSW Waratah Bonds before the maturity date?

Unless you have invested Surplus Amounts, any request for early redemption is subject to Australian migration law requirements and conditions advised by the Department of Home Affairs. Redemption requests can only be after the first interest payment date. Please refer to the Offer Document and contact the Registry for further information and documentation.

Any queries relating to withdrawal requests under COVID-19 concessions are to be directed to Registry.

Can I transfer my bonds to another party?

Unless you have invested Surplus Amounts, transfers of the Investment Amount can only be made to another Holder. Transfer requests can only be made after the first interest payment date and is subject to Australian migration law requirements and conditions advised by the Department of Home Affairs. What happens on maturity?

The principal and final interest payment will be deposited directly into your nominated bank account on maturity.

Do NSW Waratah Bonds satisfy the Designated Investment Criteria of the Investor Retirement via (subclass 405)?

This visa is closed to new applicants. If you wish to rollover an existing designated investment, contact the Registry for further information and documentation.

What should I do if my details change?

You must contact the Registry immediately of any change in details that may affect your NSW Waratah Bond holding.

How do I authorise an agent to assist me with my application for NSW Waratah Bonds?

You and your agent will need to jointly complete the Agent Letter of Authorisation and include it when you lodge your application form.
